YXE Women's Health

We are a group of qualified obstetrician/gynecologists , internal medicine specialists and physiotherapists who are committed to providing you with high quality compassionate care.
 

Ours is a safe place for all, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. Everyone is
treated with compassion and respect.

 

Appointments and physical examinations
Please inform our receptionist if you require special test such as an ultrasound or require extra
time for counseling. Call to cancel any appointment that you are unable to attend. We keep to
our appointment schedule as closely as possible, however urgent problems and circumstances
can occur that require your physician’s time. Please be understanding.


Pelvic examinations are routine in our office. If you wish to have a support person present, please let us know.


If you are not feeling well, please stay home.  Call us and we will rebook appointments or convert to telephone to keep everyone safe.

Learners
We are dedicated to teaching medical learners and they are often present, working with us in the office and hospital. If you do not wish to have a learner present, please inform us.


Telephone calls

If you have concern, you may call the office and a nurse will review the issue with you and bring it to the attention of a physician if required. If unavailable, the nurse will return your call at their earliest convenience.


Test results

You will be contacted in the event of an ABNORMAL test result. Our office policy is not to contact patients who have normal test results unless there are special circumstances.


Non insured services
Patients are responsible for the cost of services that are not insured by medical services branch. This includes but is not limited to:

  • physiotherapy services

  • insurance forms

  • disability forms

  • sick notes,

  • IUD

  • Pessaries

  • photocopying

Please ask reception is you have questions.

After hours care and emergencies

In case of emergency please call 911 or go directly to the hospital. If you are pregnant and in labour or have a problem that requires urgent attention, please go to the Maternal Care Centre on the third floor of the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital.
If you have gynecological emergency, please go to Saskatoon City Hospital. The hours of
operation are 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM daily. Outside these hours go to Royal University Hospital.

Jocelyne Martel (She/Her)

MD FRCSC

Dr. Martel completed medical school and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan, followed by fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Manitoba. She has been in practice in Saskatoon since 1996. She has enjoyed the practice of complex obstetrics including prenatal diagnosis, management of multiple pregnancy and the support of pregnancies with complicated maternal and fetal conditions. She is married and has interests in cycling, cooking and travelling, as well as spending time with friends and family.

Annette Epp (She/Her)

MD FRCSC

Dr. Epp received her medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1988. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Saskatoon and went to Calgary to obtain sub-specialty training in Urogynecology. She is on the board of the Saskatchewan Medical Association. She holds the Canadian Certified Physician Executive designation.
She practices general gynecology with a focus on pelvic floor disorders. She also has an interest in caring for vulnerable populations and runs itinerant clinics in LaLoche. She is married with two daughters and two dogs. Her hobbies include travel, time spent with family and friends and physical activities

Kristine Mytopher (She/Her)

 MD FRCSC

Dr. Mytopher received her medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2002. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Saskatoon in 2007. She then travelled to Winnipeg to obtain subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She is the Assistant Program Director, the MFM/Ultrasound Rotation Supervisor and Competency Committee Chair for the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at the University of Saskatchewan. She practices Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine focusing on the complete care of women with complex maternal and fetal medical problems.  She is married with two sons. She spends her free time playing volleyball and other sports with her family. 

Lara Wesson (She/Her)

MD FRCSC

Dr. Lara Wesson was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She completed her Bachelor of Science, medical school and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed her subspecialty fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Calgary in 2015. She returned back home to Saskatoon to start her practice shortly thereafter. She is the current Clinical Lead Obstetrics - Saskatoon. Her clinical interests include high risk maternal and fetal conditions in pregnancy.
She is married with two wonderful children, two dogs and enjoys long distance running and camping.

Jill Newstead-Angel

MF FRCPC

Dr. Newstead-Angel received her medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 2001. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency in Saskatoon. She completed a clinical fellowship in Obstetric Medicine in Rhode Island, USA as part of her 2 year General Internal Medicine fellowship. Her area of expertise is in medical disorders in pregnancy with a special interest in Diabetes in Pregnancy. She is medical lead for the Diabetes and Pregnancy Program in Saskatoon. She also manages hypertension in pregnancy and works closely with her Maternal Fetal Medicine colleagues. She is married with a son and a daughter. Her interests include time with family, travelling, reading and running.

Glennie Lane (She/Her)

MD FRCSC

Dr. Lane was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, before moving to Saskatoon to pursue her undergraduate and medical degrees. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency in 2016 at the University of Saskatchewan, and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Manitoba in 2018. She is thrilled to be back in Saskatoon serving the women of Saskatchewan. She has a special interest in kidney disease in pregnancy, and prevention of preterm birth/cervical insufficiency.

Bobbi Batchelor (She/Her)

MD FRCSC

Dr. Bobbi Batchelor received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia, and  completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Saskatchewan. She practices both general Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a focus on pelvic pain. She is an advocate for women's reproductive rights. She is married with one wonderful daughter. Hobbies include gardening, reading, and spending time with family.

Katarina Nikel

MD FRCSC

Dr. Nikel was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. She received her medical degree at the University of Calgary. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2019 and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2021. She is excited to be back in Saskatoon. Outside of work she enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with family.

If you have forms that require completion by your doctor in our office, please send them to our office with the following information:

1.    The name of your doctor in our office
2.    How you wish to have the forms returned to you when completed
    a.    Fax (include the fax number)
    b.    Email (we will use Medeo secure email)
    c.    Mail
    d.    Call for pick up
3.    Most insurance or disability forms   require you to sign part of the form indicating that you give permission for the office and physician to share requested medical information – please sign that part before sending as we cannot complete forms or release information without it. Not signing will delay completion of forms as we have to return the forms to you for signature.
4.    Any pertinent information about your forms

You may send the form to our office by:
